Join a Team That Changes Lives Every Day!

Mental Health Skills Building helps adults develop the everyday skills needed to live more independently. Services focus on medication management, coping skills, communication, budgeting, community involvement, and other daily living skills to support long-term recovery and wellness.

Intensive In-Home Counseling provides individualized, family-centered support for children and adolescents experiencing significant emotional or behavioral challenges. Services are delivered in the home and community to strengthen coping skills, improve family relationships, reduce crises, and help youth succeed at home, in school, and in the community.

Outpatient Therapy services provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Through individual, family, or group therapy, our licensed clinicians help clients manage mental health challenges, develop healthy coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and achieve their personal treatment goals in a safe and supportive environment.

Community Stabilization provides short-term, intensive support for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or at risk of hospitalization. Our specialists work with clients to develop coping strategies, improve daily functioning, connect with community resources, and promote stability and recovery in the least restrictive environment.

Intensive Outpatient Counselor (IOP) provides structured, therapeutic support for individuals who need more care than traditional outpatient therapy while continuing to live at home. Through individual counseling, group therapy, skill-building, psychoeducation, medication management, and personalized treatment planning, our team helps clients improve daily functioning, strengthen coping skills, and work toward lasting recovery.

The Clinical Assessor is responsible for completing comprehensive behavioral health assessments to determine medical necessity, establish diagnoses within the scope of licensure, identify treatment needs, and recommend the appropriate level of care. Responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial and risk assessments, evaluating individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, completing required clinical documentation, collaborating with referral sources and treatment providers, and ensuring assessments comply with DBHDS, Virginia Medicaid, and organizational standards. The Clinical Assessor promotes person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care while supporting timely access to appropriate behavioral health services.

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical leadership, oversight, and supervision to behavioral health staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and compliant services. Responsibilities include providing clinical consultation, reviewing assessments and service documentation, monitoring adherence to DBHDS and Medicaid requirements, supporting crisis intervention, facilitating staff development, and promoting evidence-based, person-centered treatment practices. The Clinical Supervisor works collaboratively with leadership to maintain clinical excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster positive outcomes for individuals receiving services.

Tidewater Counseling Group periodically recruits for temporary, seasonal, grant-funded, contract, PRN, internship, administrative, and other specialized positions that support our mission of providing high-quality behavioral health services throughout Virginia. These opportunities may vary based on organizational needs and community demand.
